Teachers happy to avert strike, see pay on the rise
SCARY NEWS Javier Panzar (back) talks to current journalism students on Jan. 22 about a grisly story the paper reported while he was editor of The Oracle in 2008. A few students found human remains in a canyon behind the school. Authorities later identified the remains as belonging to a former student at Skyline, Panzar told the class. He is now a marketing representative at BART but worked as a reporter for the LA Times, the Seattle Times and other newspapers.

DIRECTOR X 2 Dennis Spencer directs “High Stakes Testing,” a film produced in Kensington in 2022. Spencer is also the director of the Arts, Entertainment & Design Pathway. He says his career was inspired by watching old films when he as a young boy. He also has worked in episodic streaming and television series.

Oliver Forrest

Freshman Oliver Forrest entered journalism by chance. He enjoyed the class so much that he decided to stay. As a member of class cabinet, Oliver feels connected to Skyline. His favorite Oracle stories include a dive into Coach D’s fan page and articles on Prop 50 and school safety. He also enjoys interviewing classmates. Oliver likes playing tennis, reading, and listening to music. He hopes to earn all A’s this semester. He holds dual citizen- ship in the U.S. and U.K.
